Connecting with the Myanmar Private Hospital Association

On March 28, 2022, the Myanmar Foundation Mérieux team organized a virtual meeting with the Myanmar Private Hospital Association (MPHA) to present the program of activities of the SEALAB project and to enable the coordination and communication between the Foundation Mérieux and the MPHA.

The MPHA was founded in 2012 under the guidance of the Ministry of Health and consists of 115 private hospitals offering a wide range of high quality health care services throughout Myanmar.

Dr. Htin Paw, President of MPHA, Dr. Aye Aye San, General Secretary and other members of the Executive Committee participated in the meeting with the Foundation Mérieux team.

Dr. Nay Thiha, the Foundation Mérieux team country representative in Myanmar presented an overview of the Merieux Fondation’s activities, particularly in Myanmar and also the SEALAB project detailing the Myanmar component’s objectives and expected outputs.

During the meeitng Dr. Htin Paw stressed that the importance of biosafety and QMS is a concern for all managers of medical laboratories and Dr. Aye Aye San emphasized the importance of improving laboratory infrastructure. Dr. Kyu Kyu, City Hospital, Mandalay, and Dr. Aung Ko Ko Win, Mingalar Hospital, Mandalay, expressed their interest in the Moodle Knowledge Transfer Platform and the launch of the laboratory mapping App.

Dr Nay clarified that providing support to assess and improve QMS in several private laboratories is progressing and that the Mériex Foundation will consider organizing a training course on laboratory infrastructure.

In conclusion, following this initial meeting the MPHA will be more closely involved in the discussions for the next of SEALB project.
